Michael Welti has spent nearly four decades in private banking and wealth management, holding senior leadership positions across Swiss and international institutions. His extensive financial expertise has encompassed significant responsibilities for clients, teams, business development, and the strategic evolution of wealth management activities across various markets and economic cycles.
In senior roles, he has leveraged his financial expertise to build businesses, develop teams, and strengthen long-term client relationships within the private banking and wealth management sectors. His approach combines a strategic perspective with sound judgement, discretion, and the ability to guide organisations through growth, transformation, and change.
Born in Tokyo and based in Switzerland, Michael brings an international outlook shaped by his financial expertise gained through work across Europe, the Middle East, and other global markets. His experience in private banking and wealth management, combined with working across cultures, has informed his understanding of different client expectations, communication styles, and ways of doing business.
Michael’s professional qualifications include the SAQ Certified Wealth Management Advisor (CWMA) and ISFB Swiss Wealth Management. They complement decades of practical experience working with entrepreneurs and international families, bringing a structured professional foundation to the judgement and understanding developed through long-term client relationships.
Completed the Swiss Banking School Executive Program (2002–2003) and Advanced Executive Program (2008). These programmes complemented his progression into senior leadership roles, where responsibility extends beyond financial expertise to setting business priorities, developing teams and exercising sound judgement across Private Banking and Wealth Management.
Michael completed further education in Sustainable Investing at the University of Zurich in 2020. This complements his broader experience in Private Banking and Wealth Management, where sustainability raises important questions about investment choices, personal values and the priorities families want their wealth to support over time.
